By this date in 1964 the "British Invasion" had been underway for over three months and the chart for the week ending on the 31st. Good Friday - 29th. March 2013

Today we venture back in the time machine to March 30th. 1965 - 48 years ago.

By 1965 - following the huge influx of British pop-music from late 1963 - Australia was not as heavily influenced by American music as it had been in the 1950s and early 1960s.
Therefore many of the songs that appeared on the original American charts either did not make it to Australia or, if they did, were not successful in moving into the Top Forty.

Below is the modified playlist from one of the most popular and influential stations in the USA - WABC, New York - for the week ending 30th. March 1965.
I have removed from the list those American records which were either not sold here or did not reach the Top Forty lists.

  1. I'm Telling You Now -  Freddie & the Dreamers
  2. Stop! In the Name of Love - The Supremes
  3. Can't You Hear My Heartbeat - Herman's Hermits
  4. King of the Road - Roger Miller
  5. Goldfinger - Shirley Bassey
  6. Game Of Love - Wayne Fontana & the Mindbenders
  7. Eight Days A Week - The Beatles
  8. Nowhere To Run - Martha & the Vandellas
 9. Red Roses For A Blue Lady - Bert Kaempfert
10. I Know A Place - Petula Clark
11. Go Now! - The Moody Blues
12. Tired Of Waiting For You - The Kinks
13. The Birds And The Bees - Jewel Akens
14. Do You Wanna Dance? - the Beach Boys
15. I'll Never Find Another You - The Seekers
16. The Race Is On - Jack Jones
17. Bumble Bee - The Searchers
18. Long Lonely Nights - Bobby Vinton
19. The Last Time - The Rolling Stones
20. Silhouettes - Herman's Hermits
21. One Kiss For Old Times' Sake - Ronnie Dove
22. Little Things - Bobby Goldsboro
