Relocating to Yamba, NSW

From May 21st. the Baby-Boomer Radio Show will be heard on 2TLC (The Lower Clarence) 100.3, the community radio station located in Yamba, on the mouth of the Clarence River.

The program is scheduled for Wednesday afternoons, from midday until 4:00 PM, and will follow the same format as has been presented for the past several years in Canberra.

Please join me and wallow in the deep end of the nostalgia pool of pop music and radio comedy from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.

Monday morning show now having a holiday

With Spring just over the hill I have decided to give the Monday-morning "Baby Boomer Radio Show" a holiday for the immediate future......maybe until the end of Summer next year.

This decision has been brought about by the fact that, after a year of retirement lifestyle, I can spend more time in the warmer seasons outside in the yard and Daylight Saving helps to add to the desire to do so.

However, the Friday afternoon show will continue and in fact it will have an hour tacked on, giving 4 hours of air-time in lieu of 3.
The program will start two hour's earlier - at 12 Noon - and run through to 4 o'clock and, if the mood strikes, I may even take it through to 5 o'clock on occasions.

The format remains the same - a mix of the pops and hits from the 50s through to the 80s - with the 60s as the core - and Easy Listening and Comedy in there as well.

So join me for the final Monday program at 9:00 AM 26th. August and the first new Friday program on 30th. August.

Updating

The Baby-Boomer Radio Show has been running now since October 2012, with the core of each program being the hits of the 1950s through 1970s.

Therefore I have decided that, as the general format of my program is now widely known, I won't be providing advance information for every show, only those which will include any changes or additions to the core content.

So this Friday's show - 28th. June 2013 will feature - at 2:30 PM - the final episode in Series One of The Hitch-Hikers Guide To The Galaxy.

Tune in each Monday at 9:00 AM and each Friday at 2:00 PM for three hours of nostalgia as I take you back to the golden years of pop music.

Friday 21st. June 2013

It's back to the 1950s today, with a selection of hits from 1950 through to 1960.
Listen to how the music changed once Rock & Roll came into being in the mid 50s and evolved as the 1960s dawned.

The half-hour comedy spot at 2:30 PM features Episode 5 of the continuing Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy series, the BBC radio show created in 1978.

Monday, 17th. June 2013

A bit of the 1970s is the focus for today's program, with a lucky-dip of hits from throughout that decade.
In addition, I will be including a selection of 1950s, 1960s and Easy Listening tracks for your enjoyment.

The Comedy Half-hour from 9:30 AM will feature another classic Goon Show, today's being entitled "The Personal Narrative of Captain Neddy Seagoon, RN", first aired by the BBC on the 22nd. November, 1956.
This is the full-length show, which includes the musical interludes by Max Geldray, harmonicarist extraordinaire, and Ray Ellington and his group.

Friday 14th. June 2013

What does a pretty girl (she is wearing something underneath that short dress, isn't she?) on an Italian motor-scooter have to do with today's program?
Absolutely nothing - other than the fact that I will now have to include Besame Mucho in the music line-up!
I have two versions available - an instrumental by Ray Conniff and his orchestra and a vocal arrangement by Julie London. Maybe I should include both in the three-hour show.

That will set the theme for today's session - a mixed bag of everything good from the golden years of pop music.

And don't forget that, at 2:30 PM - the new time-slot - it will be Episode 4 of  The Hitch-Hikers Guide To The Galaxy, the radio serial (of Douglas Adams' book) created by the BBC in 1978.

Join me, all you Baby-boomers, for a fun afternoon!!

Program for Monday 10th. June 2013

The program today will feature a mix of all things good from the Fifties and Sixties, along with Easy Listening tracks and some comedy snippets.

The regular comedy half-hour will be included but now moves from just after the 10:00 AM news & weather to 9:30 AM - a half-hour earlier.

As mentioned on air last Friday, I will be featuring a selection of British (BBC) 1950s comedy shows in this spot on Mondays, whilst the Friday spot (now also a half-hour earlier - at 2:30 PM) will continue with the current Hitch-Hikers Guide To The Galaxy (HHGTTG) until the full series is played out. That's about 21 Fridays left to go!

So, in today's spot I will have an episode of one of the most brilliant odd-ball comedy series ever to appear on radio - or anywhere else for that matter - The Goon Show.
Today's episode, entitled The Great Statue Debate, was first broadcast on the 24th. of March 1958.
The show includes the musical interludes from Max Geldray, harmonicarist extraordinaire, and Ray Ellington and his trio.

Join me from 9:00 AM until midday for laughs and baby-boomer music!
